Clavico vs DocuSign

DocuSign is the world's most widely used e-signature platform. Clavico is contract intelligence. These tools do completely different jobs — and that's the whole point.

What DocuSign actually does

DocuSign is an e-signature platform — one of the most widely used in the world. It allows you to send documents for digital signature, track who has signed, collect legally binding sign-offs, and store completed agreements. It is an infrastructure tool for the signature process.

What DocuSign does not do: it does not read the contract, assess the risk of what you're signing, flag problematic clauses, identify revenue leakage, or tell you whether the terms are favourable or unfavourable. It is deliberately neutral on content — its job is to facilitate the signature, not evaluate what's being signed.

The problem: signing before understanding

DocuSign has made it faster and easier than ever to execute a contract. That is largely a good thing. But it has also made it easier to sign contracts without fully understanding what they contain.

A vendor sends you a 40-page MSA via DocuSign. The auto-renewal clause is on page 31. The liability cap is asymmetric — it caps their liability but not yours. The IP assignment clause is broad enough to give them rights to work product you generate outside the contract.

DocuSign makes it easy to sign. Clavico makes it possible to understand — before you do.

"DocuSign is the finish line. Clavico is the due diligence you do before you get there."

The right order of operations

For any contract that matters:

  1. Receive the contract — from supplier, client, or vendor
  2. Scan with Clavico — get a risk score, revenue leakage assessment, and flagged clauses in under 3 minutes
  3. Negotiate if needed — use Clavico's negotiation guidance to push back on high-risk terms
  4. Sign with DocuSign — once you're satisfied with what you're agreeing to

Clavico and DocuSign are not competitors. They serve consecutive steps in the same process.

Pricing

DocuSign pricing starts from approximately $15–$45/month for individual and small business plans, scaling up for enterprise.
